Violence at Howe Community Park Wounds Four Victims Wounded in Arden-Arcade Sacramento

Officials in Sacramento County are probing a violent incident that broke out on April 18 2026 at Howe Park in Sacramento while authorities were dispersing a large unauthorized gathering of hundreds of attendees.

Background

Deputies initially got calls about Howe Park at approximately 6:30 Saturday evening after getting calls of persons possibly in possession of concealed check here weapons. Not long after, a follow-up call was made concerning a possible fight happening near the park.

A sheriff's airship was sent to survey the area but reported no active disturbance. Nevertheless, it became clear that hundreds of people had come together at the location in an unauthorized manner.

When the Shots Rang Out

Deputies started clearing the unauthorized gathering by forming a perimeter and using their vehicle PA systems directing the hundreds present to vacate the area. About 15 minutes were given for people to comply.

As the crowd was being cleared that 20 to 25 rounds of ammunition cut through the air. The barrage of gunfire caused mass panic. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies immediately began locating gunshot victims.

Four Gunshot Victims

Ultimately, four shooting victims were located with gunshot injuries. Those injured — including a female and three males ranging in age through their in their mid to late twenties — were airlifted or driven to area medical facilities. Emergency physicians stated that two victims were in serious condition, one person had injuries of a moderate nature, and one suffered minor injuries. In a positive development, no fatalities were reported and all four were stable.

The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department assisted at the location and provided medical assistance the four victims on location.

Crime Scene Evidence

Most of the gunfire was believed to have taken place adjacent to the Cottage Way side of the park close to the local Home Depot located at the 2200 block of Howe Avenue. Detectives found further ballistic evidence in the form of shell casings throughout the Cottage Way area. Bullet damage were identified in the wrought iron fence adjacent to the Home Depot. This evidence confirmed that one of the gunmen had been aiming south from along Cottage Way aimed at the Home Depot building and parking lot. That Home Depot location was locked down during the incident. Crime scene personnel stayed at the location late into the evening.

Detainees in Solano County

Reports confirmed over scanner radio traffic showed that a suspect Kia was intercepted in Solano County California. Four suspects were detained. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies were sent to retrieve the detainees to collect the individuals for investigation. Surveillance footage revealed that two shooters had been involved.
